My name is Chris and I'm here in Warsaw teaching English. I would rather be building and racing fast cars, though, as this is what I used to do. I used to drag race an 11 second VW, but it fell over in 1999 at Santa Pod raceway in England. I'd like to see your cars and some racing over here. I hear that the next race is on the first of May in Modlin. I'll be there.
Great that somebody has organised this and taken it off the streets, though the name suggests that you still race on the streets. Do you?
My friends in England would also be interested to see what you are doing over here so I'll send them info. on this site.
I can read Polish, but my written Polish is rather poor.

As you see, there are no "officially recorded" 11 second cars so far.
But you can be sure some 11s will appear there in May.
I'll be happy if I hit 12s.

In answer to some of your questions- I teach in Natolin, but live in Mokotow, the VW was A bug, a 1303s with a 2387cc bug engine which made 240hp with no turbo and no gas, but on slicks. I have a slow car now, a Porsche 914 2.1 which handles well, but only runs 16 seconds.

Some of you may be shocked that a bug engine made 240hp.
This engine would cost about $10,000 to build today and the only part that came from VW was the block and that was highly modified.
The car weighed 700kg and was a Super Street class race car, and though it was street legal you woudn't have wanted to drive it on the street.
Can't wait to see some of your cars for real and in anger on the strip.

I've found a nice site http://www.ukstreetracers.com with british cars and their times for 1/4 mile. Do you know it? Maybe your former car is there...
However, congratulations - There're no such cars in Poland so far, but even this year it may be very interesting...We'll see...
